Yes, you read it right and I’ll get to that in a minute but first…
Checking my stats today on a search engine geeks favorite little game I was pleasantly surprised to find this site ranked #5 on Google for the coolest guy on the planet – no quotes.
Considering I haven’t touched this site (as far as optimization) since my last post in July, and I’ve been ranked up on the 7th or 8th page, sometimes not at all. I was happy as a clam to see that I was back on page #1 for Google.
This sometimes happens when sites are new so if you see it happening to you, don’t worry. It’s called Google’s sandbox and your site can sometimes end up there even if you are doing nothing wrong. I’ve used only white hat SEO on this site, but even if you do that…if your optimization is too good, too fast you could end up sitting out on the benefits for a couple months.
Now as you see I’m back on the front page and enjoying the perks of having other SEO geeks like me be able to find me. Who knows some of them may become my customers or some of them may become JV partners. The point is when you follow good white hat practices you do end up on top, and if you do it right you’ll stay there for a long time enjoying the benefits of FREE traffic.
Now back to the hack…
Today I noticed wordpresssupplies.com listed as a link in my blogroll.
I thought for a minute, “did I put that there” or “was that the designer of my wordpress template”
(note: I’ve changed my wordpress template since this happened. Say “hi” to Napolean)
When I realized the answer to both of my self questions was NO I decided to investigate.
A quick search turned up a very useful and in-depth post by Chaos Laboratory
If you find unknown links for vacation rentals, wordpresssupplies.com or any other link you don’t remember go check out Chaos Lab they’ve got the answer to your problems.
Supposedly this issue can come back even after deleting it, so before I dig into my wordpress files I’m gonna wait and see if this link magically reappears.

Well today Google slapped the hell outta me…
As a matter of fact I’m not even showing at all in the search results.
My site still shows a Google Page Rank (of 1)
but I am simply not showing in the engines.
So I’m thinking maybe I should show Google a little love and maybe they’ll let me keep competing in this exciting “coolest guy on the planet thing”

…so why do I think they banned me.
Well I have a few ideas
- Maybe I have been putting in a few too many “coolest, guy, and planet” phrases
- Maybe the speed at which I am building backlinks is setting off alarms in the underground lab at Google
- Maybe someone who works there has a personal vendetta against me being cool
Truth is I don’t know and I’m not about to call Google and ask them what happened to my rank because I’m working on dominating their rankings.
This happened before with B. who currently holds the #1 position, so they may indeed have some kind of “rankings alarm” in place.
Let’s see how many days it takes me to bounce back.

The Blackbook of SEO is hitting the cyber streets on June 3rd.
The reason I chose The Blackbook of “SEO” to be released first is because I’m a self-confessed SEO Geek and I think many people are still intimidated like I first was when I got started with Optimizing my Sites.
The Blackbooks are the coolest series of Best Practice Guides on the Planet because they are put out by this guy.
Just Kidding.
I my humble opinion the are “the best” and “the coolest” because they are presented to the member in a simple step by step formula that even a “brain-dead” monkey could figure out.
The truth of the matter is SEO or “Search Engine Optimization” or “Optimisation”, as my British Friends would spell it, is a pretty simple formula and you get a knack for it once you get started.
That’s why a few months back I started this “Coolest Guy On The Planet Site” I wanted to see just how competitive it was.
Actually the first one I started which is surprising ranked worse for the coolest guy on the planet was my Original Coolest Guy On The Planet site
If you go there now you’ll notice it’s absolutely hideous as far as design, but so was this one up until yesterday
Fortunately Search Engines don’t judge your site for beauty. (but keep in mind PEOPLE do)
In just a few months I was able to pass up several websites optimized for the search term The Coolest Guy On The Planet search term.
Many of these site have been trying to compete for these terms for years. While I’ve been active on my campaign for just a few short months.
So what’s this guy’s secret?
